Pilgrimage, the Journey to Christian Unity

5 - 8 September 2008
United with Mary in Prayer: Ecumenism & the Mother of God

The Ecumenical Society of the Blessed Virgin Mary's London Branch arranges a biennial pilgrimage and conference to promote Christian unity and understanding, through the prism of many different traditions and their approach to the Mother of God and her significance for their faith and Church life. This year the conference is at The Friars, the National Shrine of St Simon Stock and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, home to the Carmelite Order in England.

Liturgies, devotional services, meditations and talks reflect the contribution of the Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican and Methodist participants. There will also be a visit to Rochester Cathedral

Leaders and speakers will include Metropolitan Kallistos of Diokleia, Greek Orthodox Diocese of Thyateira and Great Britain; The Revd Dr David Cornick, General Secretary of Churches Together in England; Monsignor Andrew Faley, Bishops' Conference of England & Wales; Prebendary Norman Wallwork, the Methodist Church; the Revd Dr Mark Chapman, Ripon College, Cuddesdon.
